Project Information

The Brief:

Reach the emerging "run club" customer and refresh PUMA's perception in running. Keep graphics to 1-2 colors maximum for price constraints. Make it authentic to street running culture.

The Approach:

Gritty street graphics became the answer. The placement flexibility was key: these graphics work on chest, back, or sleeve depending on the garment. Soft hand screen print with puff texture makes each piece feel like dried paint on concrete. That texture isn't just aesthetic, it's storytelling. Messages like "No Run Cares" connect with runners who see their sport as culture, not just fitness. The 1-2 color restriction? That became a feature. It forced us to be bold with placement and smart with design. Every limitation pushed creativity forward. The distressed treatments make pieces feel worn-in from day one.

The Impact:

These graphics brought PUMA into the run club conversation authentically. No pandering, no trying too hard. Just graphics that look as good at the coffee shop as they do at mile 5. Younger runners saw themselves in the designs. Established runners appreciated the fresh perspective. The gritty aesthetic proved that speaking to new runners doesn't mean dumbing down. It means designing smarter.
