Project Information
The Brief:
Create a print that works across apparel, footwear packaging, and in-store displays. Connect to Scoot's personal story while maintaining broad appeal.
The Approach:
Old diner table covers became the inspiration. Not just any checker pattern, but specifically those worn, stained covers from Atlanta diners where Scoot ate with his family. I added vintage wash and fade effects to push it beyond basic checkerboard. The pattern needed to feel like it had history, like it witnessed countless family meals and conversations. This connects to Scoot's roots without being literal about it. The human touch shows in how I treated the pattern, making each square slightly imperfect, adding character that speaks to real places and real memories.
The Impact:
The print unified different touchpoints beautifully. Apparel felt authentic. Packaging became special. In-store displays told a story. It proved that personal narratives can drive commercial design when you make them universal. Everyone has a memory of those diner tables. Scoot's story became everyone's story.
Key Deliverables: All-over print • Packaging design • Retail display graphics • Vintage wash techniques
